I forgot to pay attention to myself.
Yes, I pay attention to myself — I go to work, I shower, I wear clean clothes. I get my hair cut regularly.
But I forgot to pay attention to myself — the real flesh and bones me. Learning to walk again is exactly that, learning to walk. I’m suddenly aware how difficult it is to make my legs move one after the other and cover distance, and how holding myself upright leads to tightening of the muscles in my lower back.
It made me cry.
But I walked today. I will walk tomorrow.
